I have two polls on women supervising older men. One is "Older men with younger female bosses (for men only)" and the other is "Female bosses who supervise older men (for women only)". As of 9/3/2010 66 men have take their poll and 34 women have taken theirs, for a total of 100 respondents. At that milestone, I decided to make a comparative summary of the responses to date, which will be posted on both polls.

*DEMOGRAPHICS. 75% of the men had a female boss 10 or more years younger than they. 61% of the women supervising older men were in their twenties and 86% were in their twenties or thirties. 79% of the women supervised men ten or more years older than they and almost half of the women supervised men 20 or more years older. 91% of the women supervised more than one older man.

*RATING WOMEN AS BOSSES 66% of the men think that female bosses are better than male bosses. However, 74% of the men rated their own younger female boss as better than average or excellent as a boss (mostly excellent). 77% of the men feel that their younger female boss deserved to be their boss based on merit. 91% of the women respondents rated themselves as better than average or excellent (mostly excellent).

-----MEN BEING DISCIPLINED BY YOUNGER FEMALE BOSSES. 81% of the men said they had been disciplined by their younger female boss and 74% of those felt emasculated by the disciplining. 88% of the women reported having disciplined their older male subordinates and 81% of those said that some or all of the men showed signs of feeling emasculated at being disciplined by a younger woman.

*SEXUAL POWER OF THE YOUNGER FEMALE BOSS. 77% of the men sometimes are sexually attracted to their younger female boss and two-thirds of those believe she is aware of that. 76% of the women said that they felt that some of their older male subordinates were sexually attracted to them and 74% of these said that they used this to their advantage in getting what they wanted.

*FEELINGS OF SUPERIORITY AND INFERIORITY. 66% of the men reported sometimes feeling inferior to their younger female boss. 64% of the women reported that they generally feel superior to their older male subordinates.

GENDER RELATIONSHIPS. 66% of the men sometimes feel that their younger female boss patronizes them because they are older men and 73% of the women reported a special feeling of satisfaction at being the boss of male subordinates. 62% of the men had duties they felt were degrading liking maker their younger female boss coffee and 73% of the women have some or all of their male subordinates do things like make them coffee. 68% of the men report saying "Yes, ma'am" and "No, ma'am" to their younger female boss and 74% of the women said that some or all of their older male subordinates said "Yes, ma'am" and "No, ma'am" to them. 58% of the women sometimes address their male subordinates with expressions like "That's a good boy."

*BOTTOM LINE. Despite some feelings of emasculation by, inferiority to, and performing menial chores for their younger female bosses, 59% of the men reported that they like working for their younger female boss. For their part, 70% of the women liked supervising older male subordinates and 52% of the women preferred supervising men. It is common knowledge that in the U.S. the average woman is better educated than the average man and that it is predicted that in the fairly near future there will be more women in positions of authority than men in those positions. How well will women and men adjust to the changing gender roles? These polls indicate that the older men are adjusting very well to being subordinate to younger women. Among men, it is the older man who was socialized to the values of the patriarchy that now seems to be passing away. If older men adjust easily, there should be no problem with young men doing so. For their part, it is clear that young women have no problem assuming the reins of authority. The youth are the future and that appears to be feminine.

I added the missing "No" option and saved the poll. When nothing changed after several days, I re-launched the poll. It's been about five days now. No "submitted to directory" symbol shows against the poll. It cannot be found through Search. Poll is about affirmative action.

Also, I created a new poll about four days ago. It is about single sex education. It has no "submitted to directory" symbol showing against it and it cannot be found through Searrch. Neither this poll nor the affirmative action poll appear on my profile page. The affirmative action one did, but then disappeared.

I asked a question with the intended options being "Yes" and "No". How do I correct this. Do I edit the poll and re-launch or what. I don't want to lose the responses I've gotten so far

From the introduction to the poll, it seemed to be a serious poll. There seemed to be an opportunity to rebutt the lunatic instructor on many grounds -- factual and moral, not the least of which being a violation of the basic principles of true feminism. However, the questions and their options were frivolous. The frivolous questions invited male fetishers to answer as women (e.g., it is not credible that so many women would want to live in a society with four women to every fully functioning man). Also, the masterpoll name of the pollster indicates a woman but the wording of the poll questions is more that of a man. I suspect the poll to be simply an exercise in sensationalism and question the reality of the women's studies class.
