I had never considered some of these issues before, very insightful, and hopefully people will become better informed in the future. Thanks.

========== In Reply To ========== i am american beacause i was born in the american continent. by the way i'm also a white latin. did u know that was possible? latin is not a race is a common cultural and basically lingüistical background. italians are latin, french are latin, just not latin american. i wouldn't ask someone with a rural culture to know that.

hi, thanks for your comment, and I see what you mean. I probably should have distinguished which type of American my poll was about, the national American, or the continental American (I was speaking about the US), and added to that, North or South American. I didn't mean to offend you or anyone else. I'm interested in all cultures, but since I'm from the US, I'm naturally curious about the people from my own country. My goal in making this poll was just to get an idea of what Americans are like, beyond the superficial or stereotypical assumptions of them, and to let others (like yourself) view the results if they were curious as well. I was not trying to deny that you are American in any way. I can see you aren't afraid to defend who you are, especially when you believe someone has disrepected it, and I admire that. I'm sorry that this poll upset you. And I'm sorry that you have such plainly negative feelings about North Americans. Maybe you haven't met a someone from North America yet, who has been able to change your mind. So knowing that, I don't blame you for such a quick judgement of who I am. I'll try to be more open-minded, but please try to do the same.

thanks again. gen

Thanks for your comment. I suppose you're right in thinking that it's "foolish" to consider either public or Catholic better than the other. I share the same opinion. I was motivated to make the poll because several people who(m?) I have met and who(m?) have never gone to Catholic school assume that it's "fancy" or they joke about how girls who attend girls' schools must be homosexual, or "stuck-up". I was only looking to open people's minds a little, and to get some feedback. It's good to know that your mind was already open. Thanks again.

Posted in Which PE sports did you do barefoot? on 2001-11-12 15:50:27

My dance teacher used to go barefoot so that she could show us the moves without trainers. ========== In Reply To ========== 3 respondents from 9 had said that their teachers worked in P.E. lessons in bare feet. Is it really truth? Maybe this number is because of only few respondents voted (and it was the same teacher). When I myself worked in school as a P.E. teacher I did not forced my students to take off their shoes compulsory, they had free choice, but I encouraged them to do it. To be example I often did exercise with them barefoot myself, but a lot of ones (students, other teachers, even parents) thought it was not normal and I must be crazy. Was I ? I would like to know some school and some teachers that believe to be barefoot in their P.E. lessons is not so strange idea.
