It is not actually illegal if it is not in a sexual context, which is why Brooke Shields and Phebe Cates were able to do nude pictures or movies before they were 18. Though as you found out, it can be a lot of trouble because most people believe that it is illegal, or otherwise want it to be. There is also an issue with a minor signing the model release, so most photographers and artist choose not to push it. Myself I find it too difficult to direct a minor even when it is just moving a strap, or undoing one button, when I have to worry about what her parents think and others think. I would rather deal with an adult that can make their own decisions.

Mainly because there is a problem with people putting in invalid information. The tables sometimes show that contradicting information has been put in by the same person.

I do know that in many areas it is legal for a minor to pose nude, but a large number of people think that it isn't, or there are contract issues, parent issues, or just plan controversy that causes problems. Consequently most photographers and artists won't work with a minor.

The reason I started this poll was because of some results I got on another poll about preference for mail or female photographers. Because I have age as one of the questions in the poll I was surprised by a number of under 18 people stating that they had posed nude. I was originally thinking to invalidate those entries, but the rest of their answers looked otherwise legit.

From this one it looks like the context is more clear. While I was thinking in the context of posing for a photographer, it looks like many of the participants included self pics, and posing for a bf/gf, more of a sexting context. That seems to be true of the majority of them, though there are some that have posed for artists, or at nudist resorts.

Outside of that, the other interesting results for all groups are are that interesting are: Most that have posed nude, would do so again About 50 percent of those who have not, would like to. Most of those who would not pose, cite religious reasons, but having religious affiliation is not an impediment for most. Age and income seem to have little effect. Women are still under represented in the poll so it would be hard to see any pattern there.

You are probably one of the ones I was wondering about in the results. I didn't expect to see anyone under 18 saying that they have posed nude. I was debating if they were valid results or not. I'm guess you are talking about self pics or amateur pics since most photographers would not shoot a minor. Though I suppose there could be an exception is someone was willing to take the risk, or perhaps something at a nudist resort.

To start with legal age in most places is 18 not 16, check the law to make sure.

Second if you are not sure, it is not time. You can't take it back afterwards so it is better to be cautious. Take time to think about everything that is involved. How will it effect your relationship? What if your parents find out? What if her parents find out? What if she gets pregnant? It can happen even if you are using birth control. If you are not ready to deal with these issues then you should wait.

Everyone is quick to tell you how much fun sex is, but it can complicate things as well. You have to be ready to deal with the reponsibilities involved and the biggest thing is that you have to be able to talk with your partner about them.

========== In Reply To ========== I'm 16 and am the legal age to have sex, but I've never done it. My girlfriend and I have been going out for 8 months, and I'm not sure if I should do it with her. She keeps giving me all these signs that she wants sex, but I'm too afraid to say no or yes. I haven't said anything and I'm afraid she'll dump me if I don't "get down to the business" soon. I'm a bit stuck about what to do.
