We don't have ties at school. We have a school polo shirt or school sweatshirt. My step thinks it would be better if we did have to wear a tie to school and had a better uniform. I quite like wearing a tie though fell a bit embarassed about it if lads from school see me in one.

I agree. A napkin round the neck isn't very elegant, although when you see the state of it after dinner and think that what's on the napkin would be on your shirt, you can see the point in having to use it. My step dad also has me use a shirt protector sometimes which felt a bit stupid at first, but now I'm more used to it it's OK, and again, I can see the point of it.

When you say you dress up for dinner, what do you wear?

my step dad tells me to use a shirt protecter at home i'm eating so i don't mess up my clothes (although he doesn't do it himself). it's amazing how messed up it can get when you eat. if we eat out then i have to take a napkin with me as some places only have small paper ones.

i sometimes have to wear sort of shortalls at home. my step dad tells me to wear them sometimes. i hated wearing them at first but they're pretty comfortable in lots of ways and i usually just have to wear them at home so i don't get teased about it or anything. when we were on holiday in the summer i had to wear them couple of times when we went out and got a few funny looks but at least it wasn't like having to wear them out round where we live which would be worse.

my step dad always makes me dress up at home so i have to wear a tie and smart trousers and stuff. we don't have to wear ties to school but i have to get one on when i get home and at dinner i have to wear a jacket - although with napkin round my neck so i don't get dinner on it. lol. when i go to stay with my dad he doesn't bother and i just wear jeans and a t.
