Yes, I had to bend over a dining room chair when I was caned, though its the same as when I am slippered, which was more usual. It does help with stability.

The cane is kept on a hook inside the hall cupboard, so I see it several times a week, and it reminds me to behave.

I'm 17. I would be mortified if my friends found out I had been caned, and possibly still could be, and so have never talked about it with most of them. I know one of them got a few smacks at christmas, but don't think it was the cane

everyone voting so far seems to think behaviour has got at least slightly worse since it was ended.

Would you support it coming back?

I can think of several people i was at school with who would have got if it was still allowed. It might have pulled them up short and made them behave a bit better.

I think, on balance, that it would improve matters if it came back - though I might have been (on one or two occasions) the one getting it.

It does hurt like hell, doesn't it.

I've had it once but more usually get the slipper. though it is over a year since I got even that. I never want to feel it again, the very thought of it is making me quite shivery.

I got into a fight with another girl and got given three, yes three, headteacher's detentions after school on thursdays with some of the naughtiest children in the school. For that I was caned by my dad, with my bottom bared and six strokes. It felt like ages between each one and the sting is so concentrated thats all i can think about at the time.

I don't like being spanked - it hurts, but I would rather be spanked than grounded, which is boring.
